Zurich supporting COVAX Facility

In 2020, Z Zurich Foundation (the Foundation), together with Zurich Insurance Group’s (Zurich’s) business units and people already supported more than 2.4 million of vulnerable people worldwide on humanitarian relief efforts linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the Foundation and Zurich are teaming up again to help create a brighter future together for vulnerable people and society overall.

Z Zurich Foundation is supporting UNICEF’s efforts to help deliver 2 billion COVID-19 vaccines doses to 92 low- and middle-income countries for the COVAX Facility by the end of the year. In addition, Z Zurich Foundation is collaborating with Zurich’s local businesses and people worldwide to make additional donations via various fundraising campaigns. Donations made to our local UNICEF fundraising campaigns – such as this one - up until June 30 2021, will be matched automatically by the Z Zurich Foundation (up to CHF 2.5m +/- EUR 2.2m)! For ease, the matching amounts will be consolidated globally, and will be channelled to UNICEF’s vaccination campaign through UNICEF Switzerland.

UNICEF is leading the procurement and delivery of vaccines to those most in need. In addition, UNICEF is campaigning to vaccinate at least 20% of the population in every country by the end of 2021 with a focus on priority groups (front line health workers, elderly and other front line workers like teachers, social service workers and others across all countries, regardless of income level) by the end of this year.

UNICEF is the only organisation in the world with the infrastructure, experience and expertise already in place to tackle this unprecedented challenge. The scale and speed of this intervention is the most ambitious humanitarian challenge of the last 75 years, and will be the largest, fastest immunisation effort in history. It’s a challenge Zurich are fully behind.
